Confidence in a Calm Birth Making a Difference to You, Your Partner and Your Baby No Matter Your Type of Birth
WHAT IS HYPNOBIRTHING?
KG Hypnobirthing™ is a world leading complete in-depth prenatal training programme brought to Australia by State of Grace Birthing.
It is designed to release fear and build confidence during birth, regardless of the type of birth you have.
Hypnobirthing is a set of effective techniques to use during pregnancy and birth. It provides pregnant women with knowledge and techniques to optimise their bodies’ birthing ability. Hypnobirthing gives the mother and birth partner the tools to give their baby the best possible start in life, which will have the most profound effect, lasting a lifetime.
Beverly is an experienced therapist and registered KG Hypnobirthing™ Practitioner DipHB (KGH). Beverly is currently in private practice in Melbourne after working as a Therapist in Harley Street in London for the past several years.
Beverly and her daughter Maya founded State of Grace Birthing after the birth of Maya's first child.
They set up State of Grace with the aim of sharing their combined knowledge and enthusiasm to help others experience the most positive pregnancies and births possible.
IS IT SAFE?
Hypnobirthing is completely safe. You are not under the influence of anybody except yourself and you make your own decisions about which techniques you find the most helpful. Some people may feel anxious that 'hypnosis' is about losing control and allowing somebody else to control your actions. Whilst this may be the case on TV for entertainment, it is not the purpose or technique utilised in hypnobirthing, which is about self empowerment rather than relinquishing control during the birth process.
WILL I BE IN CONTROL?
Yes. Hypnobirthing is not stage hypnosis. It will enable you to take responsibility for your birth. You will be conscious and in control when you practise your hypnobirthing techniques. The tools of the hypnotherapist are words. As Kipling said in a speech to the Royal College of Surgeons in London 'words are of course, the most powerful drugs used by mankind'.
WILL I BE MADE TO DO THINGS THAT SOMEBODY ELSE TELLS ME TO DO?
The skills you learn on the Hypnobirthing course and during your practise at home will actually empower you to question the options presented by your care team. In this way you will ensure that you are aware of all possibilities in any given situation. In this way, you have more input over the decisions made during your pregnancy, labour and birth.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The course is designed for expectant mothers and their birth partners. If you don't have a birth partner, you are welcome to come alone, and we will work with you during the course. It is suitable not only for your first pregnancy, but also for any subsequent pregnancies.
AT WHAT STAGE IN MY PREGNANCY SHOULD I ATTEND?
You can attend Hypnobirthing at any stage during your pregnancy. 20-30 weeks is ideal so that you can finish the course in time and get as much practice as possible. If you decide to do the course earlier, you can always do a refresher session later in your pregnancy if you wish.
WILL I BE GUARANTEED A PAIN FREE DELIVERY?
Giving birth is a very powerful experience, which is how some mothers describe a hypnobirth, feeling pressure rather than necessarily feeling pain. However, Hypnobirthing does not guarantee a pain free delivery. It always makes a positive difference to your birth experience, no matter whether you have a normal delivery, or require medical intervention. What Hypnobirthing does provide you with is Choice, Control, Confidence, Calm, and Comfort. Hypnobirthing provides you with the tools to achieve the best birth possible for you, whatever your birth experience.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE
Hypnobirthing does not constitute medical advice or an alternative to appropriate medical care, nor is it in any way a guarantee or promise of expected, imagined or actual outcome of labour or birth. It is not a substitute for the advice of the presence during birth or any part of pregnancy or labour of a qualified medical practitioner, midwife or obstetrician.
We welcome questions and encourage you to approach all aspects of your care with the same degree of questioning.
