We welcome questions and encourage you to approach all aspects of your care with the same degree of questioning.

Hypnobirthing is completely safe. You are not under the influence of anybody except yourself and you make your own decisions about which techniques you find the most helpful. Some people may feel anxious that 'hypnosis' is about losing control and allowing somebody else to control your actions. Whilst this may be the case on TV for entertainment, it is not the purpose or technique utilised in hypnobirthing, which is about self empowerment rather than relinquishing control during the birth process.

Yes. Hypnobirthing is not stage hypnosis. It will enable you to take responsibility for your birth. You will be conscious and in control when you practise your hypnobirthing techniques. The tools of the hypnotherapist are words. As Kipling said in a speech to the Royal College of Surgeons in London 'words are of course, the most powerful drugs used by mankind'.

The skills you learn on the Hypnobirthing course and during your practise at home will actually empower you to question the options presented by your care team. In this way you will ensure that you are aware of all possibilities in any given situation. In this way, you have more input over the decisions made during your pregnancy, labour and birth.

The course is designed for expectant mothers and their birth partners. If you don't have a birth partner, you are welcome to come alone, and we will work with you during the course. It is suitable not only for your first pregnancy, but also for any subsequent pregnancies.

You can attend Hypnobirthing at any stage during your pregnancy. 20-30 weeks is ideal so that you can finish the course in time and get as much practice as possible. If you decide to do the course earlier, you can always do a refresher session later in your pregnancy if you wish.

Giving birth is a very powerful experience, which is how some mothers describe a hypnobirth, feeling pressure rather than necessarily feeling pain. However, Hypnobirthing does not guarantee a pain free delivery. It always makes a positive difference to your birth experience, no matter whether you have a normal delivery, or require medical intervention. What Hypnobirthing does provide you with is Choice, Control, Confidence, Calm, and Comfort. Hypnobirthing provides you with the tools to achieve the best birth possible for you, whatever your birth experience.

Hypnobirthing does not constitute medical advice or an alternative to appropriate medical care, nor is it in any way a guarantee or promise of expected, imagined or actual outcome of labour or birth. It is not a substitute for the advice of the presence during birth or any part of pregnancy or labour of a qualified medical practitioner, midwife or obstetrician.

What An Enlightening Weekend

Thank you very much for an enlightening weekend. I now feel confident, I have a clearer idea of what to expect, and really....feel ready for birth! My husband is also aware of a whole lot of things he did not know before, and he also now has an open mind to a lot of aspects of birth he was unaware of. As a result, we already feel closer together and more empowered. Your natural, wise and evidence-based approach made us feel very at ease and engaged in the subject. We came home and wrote our birth plan! So thank you very much! Truly worth it.

My husband and I attended your Hypnobirthing course at your home in October this year.  Our baby was due on 1st December and I wanted to let you know that baby arrived 7 days early, on 24 November.  We now have a beatiful baby boy called Harry who weighed at birth 6 lb 6 oz.

I wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful birth and we all wanted to thank you as we are convinced that it was the hypnobirthing techniques that we learnt that helped us have the natural birth we really wanted.

I woke up at 6.00 am on the 24th with what I thought were surges and within an hour I was having surges every 5 minutes.  We put on your CD and I used the breathing you had taught us until about 11am when I realised things were moving pretty quickly and so I got in to the birthing pool.  Harry was born an hour later at 12.18.  All done within 6 hours!

Chris was a great support reminding me of the visulations and breathing during the second stage when things required a bit more concentration!

I can honestly say that giving birth to Harry was a fabulous experience.  He was born in a calm relaxed environment and at no stage did I feel out of control.

I admit I was a little sceptical when we decided to enroll on your course and on completing the course, whilst determined to practice the techniques and do my best to use them in labour, I had no idea that it would be so effective and make labour such a wonderful experience.

Harry is a very peaceful baby and I am sure that the way he came in to the world has contributed to that.

I Wish the Entire World Knew About Hypnobirthing

I just wanted to let you know that my wife gave birth to two beautiful twin boys last week using all the skills you taught us. We received your note just in the nick of time and managed to do a last minute refresher for about a week before labour set in. Lots of touch massage, script reading and listening to the CD. Just in the nick of time indeed.

We gave birth in Manly (Australia) hospital, and the midwives there were just amazing. Lisa was just incredible and you would have been very proud of her calm and serene manner in which she birthed. I shaped up too, and delivered the first twin into the world. (I’ve had the honour of receiving all my children, thanks to the confidence KG Hypnobirthing has given me over all the years).

The first baby weight 2.8kgs with the second (2.79kgs) following 15 mins late in a breech position. Legs first into the world :-) Lisa was 37 weeks almost to the day. We are obviously over the moon!

Thank you again for all the amazing experiences you have helped us achieve... I wish the entire world knew about this and had the opportunity to follow it.

Amazed at How Well These Women Have Laboured

A lot of first time mothers come to us after taking hypnobirthing sessions. I have been amazed at how well these women have laboured. I’ve been called on several occasions and have thought the woman ‘wasn’t doing much’ and she has been 7 or 8 centimetres dilated. The training also enables them to remain calm and relaxed.

One of the Best Decisions I Ever Made

Attending the KG Hypnobirthing teachers' course was one of the best decisions I've ever made. As a registrar in obstetric I seldom see couples practicing hypnobirthing since we are only involved with the complicated, instrumental deliveries. The course has given me the tools and knowledge to use and promote hypnobirthing during my day job and also over weekend seminars to pregnant couples.

Best wishes
